In 2023, AES moved to a structure of having interdisciplinary collaborative projects, called umbrella projects. Under this model, there are 14 Hatch capacity projects, organized by the ACES Pillars for Economic and Community Development. Each project has a selected "Umbrella Lead", who is responsible for working with new faculty members to get established with the project and to complete annual reporting requirements. All members of the team work towards the identified research objectives and contribute to the annual impact report.
